Quality Auditor
Position Summary:
A Quality Assurance Auditor is responsible for assessing the quality of output on a number of machines.
Specific Responsibilities

Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of SPC, measurement equipment and fixtures. As well as, understand the nature of precision measurement, selecting the right gauge, using and caring for a gauge and all other factors that may effect measurement.

An in-depth knowledge of all applicable procedures and/or work instructions.

Advise and communicate with production supervisors or lead hand when standards are not being met.

Knowledge and skills related to verifying and testing part conformance to specifications as defined by company quality-control methods and procedures for inspection, testing and evaluating component parts.

Monitor at various stages of production to ensure adherence to the quality system.

Assess safely and effectively quality of output on a number of machines. Test and evaluate pre-production parts and assess quality of parts taken from various stages of the manufacturing process, according to a pre-defined In-Process Inspection Report.

Participate in the preparation of initial samples and PPAP documentation. Measure dimensions of samples using digital and dial gauges, fixtures, micrometers and the CMM when appropriate.

Visually examine products for casting and machining defects and calls for corrective action when appropriate.

Complete capability and gauge capability studies.

Liaise with and support the production team on quality issues.

Set up inspection stations on product change-overs, and ensure all inspection instrumentation and fixtures are in good working order with appropriate documentation and instructional job aids.

Quarantine product when necessary and call for appropriate action to ensure product quality conforms to customer specifications.

Perform receiving, first off/last off, in process, final inspections, dock audits, per control plan.

Accurately complete all necessary paperwork (i.e. document all non-conforming material, logs, etc.).

Run in process checks on CMM.

Participate in QPI Meetings.

Check route cards as per the work instructions, and contain product when parts do not meet specification.

Communicate/liaise with relevant departments in quality assurance, material control, set-up and production.

Effectively and efficiently operate a personal computer and operating software.

Set-up and remove all paperwork and gauges for production, when set-up changes occur.

Communicate and work effectively with work-team members and other members of the company.

Understand and comply with the worker responsibilities and rights as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&S) of Ontario, as well as, the Company’s safety rules/procedures in the Orlick Employee Handbook.

Understand and comply with Orlick’s policies, procedures and standards of conduct as outlined in the Orlick Employee Handbook.
Requirements
- Grade 12 education or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2 years manufacturing environment experience
- Basic Print Reading
- Basic metrology (use of gauges, measuring equipment, etc.)
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Mathematical aptitude
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to change
- Problem solving & troubleshooting skills
- Computer literate
- Mechanically inclined
