We are seeking a passionate Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong interest in product design and complex technical challenges to contribute to the development of our rail systems, anchoring structures, and accessories used in healthcare environments. In this role, you will play a key part in designing safe, robust, and innovative solutions while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams throughout the entire product development lifecycle—from concept to market launch. At Arjo, you will help create solutions that improve the safety of patients and caregivers every day around the world. Key Responsibilities
Design mechanical lifting systems, including rails, structural supports, interfaces, and components intended for installation within buildings. Develop and review technical drawings and installation documentation. Perform structural analyses to assess loads, load paths, and the mechanical behavior of systems and their building anchoring methods. Apply Design for Installation (DFI) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to optimize product manufacturability, installation efficiency, and overall performance. Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, project management teams, and suppliers to ensure project success. Lead technical assignments and support product transfer activities into production. Participate in the technical coordination of projects and support alignment among various stakeholders.
Desired Profile
Strong experience in mechanical design related to structures, lifting systems, or building-installed equipment. Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as aluminum extrusion, machining, mechanical assembly, and surface finishing. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a multidisciplinary environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Interest in serving as a technical reference and growing into an expanded technical leadership and project coordination role.
Assets
Experience in the design of injection-molded plastic components and product industrialization. Knowledge of welded structures and fabrication. Knowledge of industrial anchoring and fastening systems (Hilti or equivalent). Familiarity with the National Building Code of Canada. Proficiency in AutoCAD.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ). Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering or industrial mechanics. Proficiency with SolidWorks. Availability to travel occasionally. Experience in a regulated environment, particularly within the medical device industry, is considered an asset.
Language Requirement This position requires excellent proficiency in French (Level 5/5) and very good proficiency in English (Level 4/5). These language skills are essential due to frequent interactions with development teams and partners located across various Arjo sites worldwide. English is required to effectively coordinate projects, comply with international standards, and review technical documentation, which is often available only in English. This requirement is necessary to ensure successful performance in a global business environment.
