Context:
We are looking for an experienced Communications Lead to join our project in Ontario
Missions/Main Duties:
- Lead design of project communications systems for the SRS scope (fixed and wireless networks, PA, CCTV, radio, control centre systems, etc.);
- develop communications design criteria, architectures and interface requirements;
- coordinate with signalling, SCADA, stations, OMSF and cyber security;
- review communications drawings, specifications and network designs;
- support installation, integration, testing and commissioning of communications systems. Includes Fibre, backbone network, OCC/BOCC, TVM, CIS, PAI, PA, PRESTO, CCTV, Alarm Monitoring.
Profile/Skills:
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Electrical/Telecommunications or equivalent, telecommunications or network certification (e.g., RCDD or similar) considered an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering or related discipline;
- 15+ years’ experience in communications systems for rail/transit or comparable critical infrastructure;
- knowledge of fibre and copper networks, radio systems, SCADA, PA/CCTV, and control centre systems; experience integrating communications with signalling, stations, OMSF and operations.
- Experience on at least two major transit projects, each with a minimum of two years of continuous involvement, that are now in revenue service.

- Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Systems
- Emergency Trip / Shutdown Systems
- Fare Collection Systems
- Public Address (PA) Systems
- Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
- Passenger Information Systems (PIS)
- Establishing and equipping Operations Control Centres (OCC/BOCC)
Project Lifecycle Experience
- Requirements identification and definition
- System and detailed design development
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Field installation oversight and site testing
- Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Commissioning, integration testing, and system validation
- Compliance certification and readiness for revenue service
Cybersecurity and Standards Competency
- NIST SP 800‑82 – Operational Technology (OT) Security
- NIST SP 800‑53 – Security and Privacy Controls
- IEC 62443 Series – OT security architecture
- CLC/TS 50701 – Rail cybersecurity guidance
System Analysis and Reliability Competency
- Analysis of communications networks for single points of failure
- Assessment of capacity constraints across fibre, radio, and IP networks and systems
- Development of fault‑tolerant communications architectures
