Core Cutter, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Geotechnical Supervisor, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and maintain the electric diamond-blade core saw and associated ventilation systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance.

• Apply and verify sequential numbering systems to maintain accuracy, traceability, and integrity of all core samples.

• Execute precise core cutting and sampling activities, adhering to established geological protocols and quality standards.

• Document and report completed work to the Supervisor promptly, ensuring clear communication and operational continuity.

• Provide hands-on support to geological and geophysical programs by performing assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project objectives.

• Actively participate in daily toolbox meetings, demonstrating awareness of and compliance with B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies, procedures, and operational expectations.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, proactively identifying and mitigating risks such as tripping hazards to uphold a safe working environment.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

• Two (2) years’ experience in a core cutting position using an electric diamond blade core saw in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources.

• WHIMS Certification and/or Level 1 First Aid considered an asset.

• Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., walk and stand for long periods of time and perform physical labour.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $94,393.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $34.25 and overtime rate of $51.38) in a work year.
