Job Description:

Position Purpose
The Building Maintenance Worker position is responsible for performing ongoing maintenance, janitorial, repairs and miscellaneous related duties for the Jackson’s Point Conference Centre.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs to ensure safe, functional, and well-maintained facilities.
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify issues and maintain operational standards.
  • Execute preventative maintenance programs (daily, weekly, monthly) and maintain accurate service records.
  • Complete repairs and improvements including painting, drywall, insulation, carpentry, and minor installations to support property upkeep.
  • Maintain building security by checking doors, windows, and access points and reporting concerns.
  • Coordinate with external contractors by identifying and escalating complex repair needs.
  • Support site operations by receiving and handling deliveries and distributing materials as required.
  • Provide janitorial services, including cleaning office spaces and restocking washroom supplies to maintain cleanliness standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures, including proper use of protective equipment.
  • Monitor and report hazards, safety concerns, and property conditions, and take action to maintain a safe and compliant environment.

Education and experience Qualifications:

  • Completion of Secondary School or equivalent.
  • Certificate in Building Maintenance considered an asset.
  • Certificate in Building Maintenance considered an asset.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or related trades.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience in minor plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, cleaning, and maintenance procedures.
  • Operate and maintain proficiency with hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Apply working knowledge of building systems to support maintenance and operational needs.
  • Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently.
  • Communicate effectively (oral and written) and demonstrate strong interpersonal, listening, and teamwork skills.
  • Exercise sound judgment, professionalism, integrity, and adaptability while maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding organizational property.
  • Meet screening requirements, including background checks.

This position is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the

following represents the applicant criteria:

  • aged 17 to 30 years at the beginning of the employment period.
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • a valid Social Insurance Number.
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $21.84 with a maximum of $26.20.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
