About the role

Metalcraft Technology Inc. is a manufacturing company with more than 25 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication. We serve clients in Canada and the U.S. from our location in Coquitlam, BC. We are currently looking for a Production Planner to join our Planning team.

Only candidates who live in Metro Vancouver will be considered for this position.

As a production helper, you will:

  • Prepare equipment by adjusting setups and assisting with changeovers.

  • Complete production logs and track material movement.

  • Maintain quality through first-piece inspection, line clearance, masking/taping, and adjustments.

  • Solve line process issues and escalate concerns when required.

  • Follow procedures relating to equipment, raw materials, and finished goods.

  • Support powder coating operators with loading and unloading parts while following safe lifting practices.

  • Ensure proper use of ventilation and powder recovery systems.

  • Maintain awareness of hot surfaces and moving equipment within the powder coating line area.

  • Maintain a clean-shaven appearance to ensure proper respirator fit and compliance with safety requirements.

  • Facial hair that interferes with the seal of respiratory protective equipment is not permitted in the powder coating area.

  • Use scanners to clock in and out of job orders.

  • Review job orders and interpret engineering drawings to determine required operations.

  • Maintain quality standards by performing First Article Inspections (FAI) and using hold tags as needed.

  • Complete work orders including quantity counts, FAI sign-offs, and initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) when necessary.

  • Load, stack, and transport stock, tools, dies, and work-in-process manually or using a dolly.

  • Clean and scrape metals in preparation for fabrication, welding, painting, or shipping.

  • Pick up scrap and support general clean-up of the shop floor.

  • Perform daily cleaning of assigned work area, equipment, and workspace.

  • Conduct routine maintenance on equipment and machinery.

  • Proactively report machine issues or non-routine maintenance needs.

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times.

  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, gloves, safety glasses, coveralls, and steel-toe boots.

  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work area to support a safe working environment.

  • Safely handle metal parts, racks, and materials to prevent injuries and damage.

  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, accidents, or near misses to supervisors immediately.

  • Follow WHMIS guidelines and safe handling procedures for powders, chemicals, and cleaning products.

  • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and toolbox talks as required.

  • Operate equipment and tools safely after receiving proper training.

  • Assist with fire prevention measures and keep emergency exits and equipment accessible.

  • Support company initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Contribute to team success by completing tasks and meeting daily production goals.

Physical & Safety Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment with heat and noise exposure.
  • Comfortable wearing respirators and protective equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. safely and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling tasks.
  • Ability to work safely around moving equipment, conveyors, and hot surfaces.
