Responsibilities
Performs a variety of duties related to the inspection, preventative maintenance, service and repair of Coast Mountain Bus Company’s fire protection equipment and systems.
Conducts fire inspections of CMBC locations to ensure proper fire fighting equipment is installed and to identify unsafe conditions and fire hazards.
Prepares and delivers training to new and existing employees in the use of fire equipment and in methods of dealing with various fires.
Assists in conducting annual preventative fire drills for all CMBC properties.
Liaises with suppliers’ representatives to keep current in the latest fire protection technology and to provide an immediate source of equipment supply in case of emergency situations.
Assists contractors while on site. Maintains computer records’ tracking and coordinates the maintenance and tracking of all fire equipment including its service history.
Advises non-departmental maintenance and repair personnel regarding faulty or failed devices. Inputs data and creates reports on activities and equipment through the use of spreadsheets.
Attends training courses required to maintain ASTT BC Certification and courses concerning new fire protection equipment and systems. Provides support to other CMBC departmental and contractor maintenance work/schedules.
Education
Qualifications
Requires successful completion of the ASTT Certification and BCIT (or equivalent) courses for all disciplines: Fire Alarm Systems, Water Based Fire Protection Systems, Special Suppression Systems, Emergency Lighting, Fire Extinguishers as well as Transportation of Dangerous Goods training.
Requires training in standard office applications including word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software.
Experience
Requires two- and six-months years (2 1/2 years) previous experience in a position specializing in fire prevention in an industrial setting with experience in providing basic firefighting training.
A further period of up to 6 months in the job is required to become familiar with the various facilities and types of fire protection equipment in use, safety regulations pertaining to SkyTrain, substations, rectifier station access, servicing requirements, equipment testing procedures, etc.
Require valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and Driver’s Abstract.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

35 hours per week.

This position works predominately on-site.
Rate of Pay
Salary $6,351 - $7,617 per month (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
