Operations Supervisor, Processing Facilities
About the role
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for creating a zero harm environment, maintaining efficient day-to-day operations, and for the effective supervision of Operators at our Debert location. The Debert location is an industrial waste water processing facility and used oil processing facility. The location also maintains a fleet of tractor trucks and tanker trailers. Job Duties Health and Safety Ensure on-site operations are conducted in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, within permit conditions, and to customer specifications with a significant focus on health and safety. Maintain a strong focus on safety, maintenance, and housekeeping in accordance with company and regulatory requirements, including seasonal winterizing of fleet vehicles. Report and identify all incidents, hazards, safety infractions, and non-compliance issues; participate in investigations and the development of corrective actions. Ensure Field Level Hazard Assessments, site inspections, and Job Task Observations (JTO's) are completed and up to date for Operators. Ensure internal and external training is up to date for Operators and conduct training as required. Actively participate in branch safety meetings. Employee Relations Supervise daily operations, providing feedback, coaching, and leadership to the operating team. Resolve and record all employee-related issues, including those requiring disciplinary measures. Lead, motivate, and develop direct reports utilizing JTO's, Hazard IDs, and Hazard Assessments to reinforce or correct specific behaviors. Monitor compliance for direct reports regarding internal policies and applicable regulations and legislations. Participate in the recruitment process and support the onboarding and training of new hires. Operations Plan, assign, direct, and monitor work of Operators. Ensure operational documentation (work orders, driver logs, pre-trip vehicle inspections, BOL's, manifests, maintenance repair logs, etc.) is accurate and completed in a timely manner. Communicate atypical waste disposal projects with the Waste Water Treatment Team. Coordinate the maintenance of assigned vehicles and equipment. Maintain and implement standard operating procedures (SOP's/SWP's) and identify continuous improvements. Support the site's Environmental Management System (EMS) and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Program. Ensure all visitors (Contractors, brokers, etc.) comply with site and corporate safety policies using Field Level Hazard Assessments and Safe Work Permits. Perform emergency operation activities and remain on call as needed to meet client requirements. Requirements Engineering, environmental sciences, chemistry or other related secondary schooling. Will consider experience in related fields. Minimum of three (3) years in a leadership, managerial, or supervisory role. Experience in a union environment. Experience in water treatment processing. Experience in thermal processes. Class 5 drivers license. Related industrial services operational experience preferred, with knowledge of waste management and environmental services. Knowledge of production management processes, manufacturing equipment, and preventative maintenance principles. Ability to develop safe operating procedures. Proven organization, time management, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Computer skills including Google Suite of Applications, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, OMS, and Workday.
