Architectural Technician program. Open to recent graduates and those with experience
The Architectural Technician-Designer assists with initial design concepts while taking ownership of the technical documentation, drafting, and regulatory compliance phases. They collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and construction crews to guide projects from initial sketches to reality.
Key Responsibilities Drafting & Modeling: Create detailed floor plans, elevations, sections, and 3D digital renderings using BIM and CAD software. Code Compliance: Analyze regional building codes, zoning bylaws, and safety regulations to ensure absolute project compliance. Technical Documentation: Prepare comprehensive construction drawing packages, specifications manuals, and contract documents. Material Research: Investigate and specify building materials, construction techniques, and sustainable design practices. Site Visits: Conduct pre-design site surveys and perform on-site progress checks to verify measurements and constructability. Collaboration & Coordination: Coordinate technical components with MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and structural engineers.
Required Skills & Qualifications Education: Associate's degree in Architectural Technology, or a Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a related design field. Software Mastery: High proficiency in tools like Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, or similar BIM applications. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of structural systems, building science, thermal retention, and material performance. Soft Skills: Meticulous attention to detail, strong spatial reasoning, and excellent cross-functional communication abilities. Position will be working with customers and designing and planning their customer doors and windows.
