About the role
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work setting: Construction. Various locations. Commercial. Institutional. Residential. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials. Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems. Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware. Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites. Supervise other workers. Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate. Fall Arrest Protection Training Course. Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate. Equipment and machinery experience: Hand tools. Construction specialization: Industrial, commercial and institutional. Security and safety: Criminal record check. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Work with minimal supervision.
