Role Description The Tailor at Ceylon Atelier will create, alter, and finish custom garments, ensuring exceptional fit and quality for each client. Day-to-day responsibilities include taking accurate measurements, conducting fittings, interpreting design specifications, performing hand and machine sewing, and making detailed adjustments based on client feedback. The Tailor will collaborate with designers and assist clients in understanding style options, fabric choices, and tailoring possibilities. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Vancouver, BC, requiring regular interaction with clients in the studio and coordination with the production team to meet deadlines. Qualifications Strong garment construction skills, including Tailoring and Dressmaking, with experience in custom or bespoke apparel. Proficiency in Fitting, including taking precise measurements and making pattern or garment adjustments for different body types. Excellent Customer Service and Communication skills to guide clients through fittings and explain tailoring options clearly and respectfully. Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and familiarity with both hand-sewing techniques and industrial sewing equipment. Ability to read and interpret patterns, design sketches, and technical specifications, with strong problem-solving skills for complex alterations. Previous experience in a tailoring studio, atelier, or fashion production environment; formal training in fashion design or tailoring is an asset. Reliable time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple orders and maintain high quality under deadlines.
