The Infrastructure, Transportation, and Parks Department is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Supervisor 1 (Park Facilities & Infrastructure). This position is vital to the front-line execution of our parks management priorities, directly enhancing the overall quality, safety, and enjoyment of public spaces in North Vancouver while aligning daily operations with the City?s strategic direction. In this dynamic leadership role, you will provide skilled, hands-on supervision by organizing, planning, directing, and participating in the daily tasks of a crew (or crews) of subordinates and contractors within the Park Facilities & Infrastructure division. Reporting to the Supervisor 2 Park Facilities & Infrastructure (or designate), you will be responsible for the frontline supervisory, technical, and administrative work involved in maintaining critical park facilities and hard assets. This includes, but is not limited to: Playgrounds, sports courts, and dog parks Park buildings, decks, bridges, and signage Irrigation and drainage systems Lighting, trails, pathways, and walkways Key Responsibilities Crew Leadership & Operations: Plan, assign, schedule, inspect, and participate in the daily work of crews engaged in parks construction, asset maintenance, and repair projects to guarantee a welcoming, safe environment for all users. Quality & Safety Assurance: Determine daily priorities, inspect work in progress and upon completion for workmanship, and ensure strict conformance to established standards and proper safety procedures. Contractor & Project Oversight: Assist in monitoring the work of private contractors to ensure adherence to schedules, plans, and specifications. Public Relations: Investigate public inquiries and complaints regarding park infrastructure, arrange for prompt corrective action within defined service levels, and maintain positive public relations. Administration & Digital Tracking: Prepare and maintain precise time, operations, and maintenance records; utilize digital enterprise systems for work orders; and assist in providing cost and time estimates for minor projects. Required qualifications include: Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by courses or technical training related to public works, parks operations, or facility maintenance, plus considerable experience in applicable parks operations in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures, materials, tools, and hazards/safety precautions applicable to park facilities and infrastructure construction and maintenance. Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, sketches, and work from digital enterprise systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and exposure to digital asset management or work order systems (e.g., Infor Public Works/IPS, GIS) is considered an asset.
