Job Summary Out of the Woods Construction is seeking a skilled and reliable carpenter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various aspects of residential construction and hold high standards in their work. This position is for a lead hand carpenter or apprentice carpenter with atleast two years of schooling. Red Seal certification is preferred. You will be working in a small crew of hardworking like minded individuals. Our company goal and reputation is always quality first. We strive to deliver high quality work while also being as efficient as possible. Our projects can range from new construction to renovations or custom deck projects Etc.

We work all over the south island so own transportation is required. We require all employees to bring their hand tools and basic cordless tools. All other tools and equipment are provided.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to ensure accurate project execution
• Operate power tools, hand tools, and heavy equipment safely and effectively
• Install siding, perform carpentry work, and handle woodworking projects as required
• Assist with restoration projects by repairing or replacing damaged structures
• Lift heavy materials safely and efficiently while maintaining proper ergonomics
• Follow safety protocols at all times to ensure a secure work environment
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and within specifications

Skills

• Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding schematics
• Experience with concrete forming, finishing, and related processes
• Knowledge of siding installation, carpentry, woodworking, and general construction practices
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and competently
• Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
• Strong understanding of restoration techniques and procedures
• Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly while maintaining safety standards
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members
