Our Whiteshell location is looking for a Health Physicist to play a vital part in protecting Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) employees and the public from radiological and related hazards. What will you be doing!

Monitoring and reporting radiation protection performance. Approving radiological clearance survey methodology and accepting survey results for the clearance and release of buildings and lands. Providing assessments and advice for the safe and compliant application and implementation of specific radiation protection program elements. Providing oversight for the field execution of radiological work. Providing direction and oversight of the purchase, calibration, and maintenance of radiation and contamination monitoring systems. Conducting radiation protection training. Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What We Are Looking For

Education BSc or MSc in Physics, Health Physics, Radiation Protection, Medical Physics, and/or Engineering Physics (or equivalent education , such as BSc science degree and work experience). Experience Minimum ten years’ post-graduation Health Physics experience, preferably with 2+ in decommissioning. Extensive experience and understanding of work tasks, their execution, and associated radiological hazards, as well as the ability to learn from others and absorb new/related knowledge quickly. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to wear protective clothing and to work in a hazardous environment. Ability to establish priorities and achieve goals and objectives in a work environment with varied and sometimes conflicting demands. Knowledge of Radiation Protection principles. Security Clearance Eligibility Required Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.” Working Conditions

We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position is part of the WPEG Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the WPEG Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
