The Opportunity:
The Field Supervisor – Drilling is responsible for overseeing daily field operations, ensuring compliance with Pitbull’s and client safety standards, and maintaining efficient project execution. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with clients and site consultants.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead and participate in daily and weekly meetings with Field Supervisors, Operations Managers, and Dispatchers to review project updates, schedules, and priorities.
- Engage with the Drilling Operations team, Safety department, and Shop Foremen to ensure alignment on safety, equipment, and project requirements.
- Attend client project meetings as needed to discuss project schedules, safety, and additional service needs.
- Participate in incident and accident investigations, complete required documentation, identify root causes, and communicate lessons learned to promote continuous improvement and a strong safety culture.
- Demonstrate and promote Leadership for Safety Excellence (LES) principles by coaching crews, reinforcing safe work practices, and leading by example in the field.
Field Operations and Oversight:
- Supervise field activities in the assigned area, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical support to Operators, including troubleshooting, problem-solving, and equipment operation guidance.
- Monitor and assess equipment and manpower deployment to meet client requirements effectively.
- Log daily operations and timesheets in AIMSIO to track crew activities, equipment usage, and project progress.
Training and Development:
- Assist in identifying potential Field Supervisor candidates among Operators and contribute to their on-the-job training and development.
- Promote a culture of safety by emphasizing the importance of safety documentation, reporting, and daily practices.
Technical Expertise:
- Build and maintain expert knowledge of Pitbull’s equipment, rigging systems, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Address operational challenges on-site, including troubleshooting equipment issues and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations.
Qualifications
- Possessing and maintaining a valid Class 3 or 1 Driver’s Licence
- Ability to drive a standard 18 Speed manual transmission vehicle
- A current and clean copy of a Driver’s Abstract
- Successfully passing a Pre-Employment Alcohol and Drug Screening Test
- Valid H2S Certificate
- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate
- CSO (Common Safety Orientation) Certificate
- Confined Space Entry & Monitor Certificate
- Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within the oil and gas industry
- Strong technical knowledge of drilling equipment and operations
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teams, clients, and site consultants
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols
- Proficiency in using operational tools such as AIMSIO is an asset
- Proficiency with SiteDocs for managing safety documentation, inspections, forms, and compliance requirements is an asset.
- Experience using Samsara for fleet tracking, driver management, ELD compliance, and operational reporting is an asset.
- NCSO Certification is an asset
- Incident and Accident training is an asset
- Leadership for Safety Excellence training is an asset
