Role Description The Director of Engineering is a full-time, hybrid role based in the Greater Calgary Metropolitan Area, with flexibility for partial work from home. This role oversees engineering teams and projects, ensuring high-quality technical delivery, adherence to budget and schedule, and alignment with client expectations and company standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and mentoring engineering staff, setting technical direction, reviewing and approving designs and project plans, and coordinating with project managers and other functional leaders. The Director of Engineering collaborates closely with clients to understand requirements, provides strategic input on proposals, and helps shape long-term engineering capabilities and processes. The role also involves promoting a culture of safety, integrity, innovation, and continuous improvement across all engineering activities. Qualifications Strong leadership and people management skills, including team mentorship, performance management, and succession planning. Proven experience in engineering project delivery, including project planning, risk management, and coordination across disciplines. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with experience presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Background in engineering within consulting, industrial, or energy-related environments, with familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and best practices. Demonstrated capability in strategic thinking, process improvement, and implementing scalable engineering practices and tools. Professional Engineering (P.Eng or equivalent) designation and a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline; advanced degree is an asset. Track record of fostering inclusive, collaborative, and ethically grounded work environments. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, balancing on-site presence in the Greater Calgary Metropolitan Area with remote collaboration.
