About the role
Essential Functions:
- Lead and coordinate daily production activities on the assigned line to ensure targets for safety, quality, and output are achieved
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot production equipment to maintain optimal performance and minimize downtime
- Ensure all products meet quality specifications, including inspection of glass for defects and adherence to customer requirements
- Provide direction and support to team members (e.g., truckers, operators) to ensure efficient workflow and proper job coverage
- Complete and verify all required production documentation, reports, and system entries accurately and on time
- Respond to production issues in real time, including equipment faults, quality concerns, and staffing gaps
- Ensure proper line setup, changeovers, and start-ups are completed according to standard operating procedures
- Promote and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices on shift
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance, quality, and other departments to resolve issues and support operations
- Ability to build and maintain strong and respectful partnerships with all levels of the organization
- Support training and onboarding of new employees and provide guidance to less experienced team members
- Demonstrates dependable attendance and willingness to support overtime requirements
- Positive attitude and consistent presence on the shop floor
- Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous manufacturing or production experience, preferably in a glass or automotive environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate team activities in a fast-paced setting
- Strong understanding of quality standards, safety requirements, and production processes
- Ability to read and complete production documentation and follow detailed work instructions
Other Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12-hour shifts)
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs as required
- Comfortable working in a hot, industrial manufacturing environment
- Ability to work continental shifts (days/nights, weekends as required)
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Demonstrates computer proficiency and technical aptitude
