Intermediate Structural Engineer
Role Description
Cornerstone Structural Ltd is hiring an Intermediate Structural Engineer to support the delivery of structural design and construction administration on building projects in Alberta. This is a full-time, hybrid role with a mix of office, site, and available work-from-home days, working closely with senior technical staff while taking increasing ownership of project deliverables.
What you?ll do:
· Lead and support structural design calculations, analysis, and sizing for building projects in concrete, steel, and wood.
· Prepare and coordinate structural drawings, BIM models, and design deliverables with internal and external project teams.
· Review shop drawings, respond to site questions, and contribute to construction administration and field reviews.
· Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to help deliver accurate, practical, and well-coordinated solutions.
· Support project delivery by balancing technical quality, responsiveness, and schedule commitments.
What you?ll bring - Must-have qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural focus.
· Registered as a P.Eng. in Alberta, or eligible for registration in Alberta with the ability to practice independently in the role.
· Minimum 4 years of experience in structural engineering design and consulting.
· Working knowledge of the structural portions of the National Building Code of Canada and Canadian concrete, steel, and wood codes.
· Proficiency with structural analysis and design tools such as RAM Concept/SAFE, Forte, S-Concrete, ETABS, SAP2000, or STAAD (or similar).
· Able to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and produce accurate deliverables within project schedules.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including the ability to build and use design spreadsheets and calculation tools.
· Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals and the ability to apply them to design and coordination tasks.
· Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to project delivery.
Nice-to-have (assets)
· Experience working on a range of building projects including commercial, mixed-use, residential, or institutional developments.
· Experience with field review reporting, construction administration, and consultant coordination.
· Experience mentoring junior staff, EITs, or drafters.
· Familiarity with Revit-based structural coordination and BIM workflows.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: CA$85,000 - CA$100,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Health & wellness: extended health care, dental care, vision care. Life insurance. RRSP contributions. Annual 3 weeks vacation.
Work Location: Monday to Friday, in office and opportunity for hybrid remote in our Calgary Alberta location.
