Responsibilities
What You'll Lead
As a senior geohazard mitigation technician, you'll work on complex projects across Canada, often in emergency response or technically demanding conditions. You execute the full scope of geotechnical construction techniques—shotcrete, drilling, soil nail walls, anchoring, grouting, slope stabilization—while bringing specialized expertise in micropile or rock drilling systems where depth and precision matter most.
Your Core Responsibilities Include
Executing advanced geohazard mitigation systems with technical precision across all disciplines: shotcrete application, drilling, soil nail walls, anchoring systems, grouting, and slope stabilization Directing field operations on specialty work (micropile installation, top hammer rock drilling, complex casing systems) where your expertise ensures success Ensuring rigorous safety execution—protecting the people around you is priority #1 Coaching and developing junior technicians and crew members to build their expertise and capabilities Problem-solving on complex installations where technical expertise directly impacts project success Managing equipment maintenance, jobsite logistics, quality assurance, and uptime across multiple systems Communicating technical requirements clearly with clients, engineers, and internal teams Contributing to continuous improvement in methods, safety protocols, and execution standards

Required
4+ years of hands-on experience in geotechnical construction, with proven expertise across multiple disciplines (shotcrete, drilling, soil nail walls, anchoring, grouting) Deep technical specialization in one or more of: micropile installation systems, top hammer / percussive rock drilling, or advanced casing and ground control techniques Demonstrated ability to execute work to design specifications and quality standards Strong leadership and mentoring ability with junior technicians and crew members Excellent communication—clear, solution-oriented, able to work effectively with clients and engineering teams Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex jobsite logistics Flexibility to travel and adjust schedules as needed across Canada Valid driver's license (Class 1 Commercial preferred)
Preferred
Experience with specialized drilling rigs, micropile equipment, or top hammer systems Background in emergency response or high-consequence geohazard mitigation Certifications in geotechnical construction, drilling operations, or advanced construction techniques Experience troubleshooting technical challenges in unstable or complex terrain Project leadership, crew lead, or supervisory experience
Work & Travel Expectations
Outdoor work in all Canadian climates and conditions (mountains, permafrost regions, coastal areas, plains, variable seasons) Typical construction-site hazards, noise levels, and weather exposure; exposure to specialized drilling operations Regular lifting of 75 lbs+ Extensive travel across Canada as needed (up to 80% depending on project demands) Willingness to mobilize rapidly for emergency response projects
