About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Application Developer to join our Technology team. This hybrid role offers the flexibility to work from either our First Canadian Place (Bay/King) location or the Scarborough Computer Complex (Gordon Baker Road). The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-based applications utilizing AWS services. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support the organization’s digital transformation initiatives, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud solutions. Your expertise will be pivotal in enhancing existing cloud infrastructures, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing innovative strategies to optimize cloud performance. This role requires a proactive mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently on non-routine tasks while collaborating effectively with stakeholders across the organization.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud development, particularly with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Proficiency in AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, and Aurora is essential. Strong programming skills in Python or Pyspark are required, along with extensive experience working with RDBMS, SQL, and PL/SQL. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, AWS Infrastructure, and AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK). Additionally, experience with real-time streaming technologies like Kafka or Kinesis for at least 2+ years is highly desirable. A background in the banking or finance domain is considered a plus. Candidates must showcase excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders effectively.
Responsibilities
Focus on the technical design, development, enhancement, testing, debugging, and maintenance of cloud applications, supporting the design of business processes within the cloud environment. Maintain and optimize applications and infrastructure for cloud-based platforms to ensure high availability, security, and performance. Support the creation and implementation of strategies to improve the efficiency and performance of existing cloud technologies. Provide specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support to internal teams and stakeholders. Work independently on complex, non-routine situations, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills. Handle broader work or accountabilities as assigned, contributing to team goals and organizational objectives.
