THE OPPORTUNITY
Ambipar is currently seeking a Geomatic Team Lead based in Alberta.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Stay current with advancements in geomatics and provide updates to supervisors and technical leads related to the development of CAD and GIS capabilities;

Support field data collection activities as required, including EM surveys, UAV surveys, and GPS data collection;

Provide on-call geomatics support for Ambipar Emergency Spill Response (ESR) and Environmental Assessment and Closure (EAC) divisions outside regular business hours and on scheduled weekends;

Assist in developing geomatics procedures and deliver training related to data collection and presentation;

Design and develop drafting templates as directed by technical leads;

Prepare professional-quality data presentations, including figures, aerial photographs, maps, cross-sections, and related visuals for technical reports and deliverables;

Support the development, implementation, management, and optimization of software programs and subscriptions related to data acquisition, presentation, and project tracking;

Assist in the creation of conceptual site models and site-specific schematics;

Provide technical guidance to project leaders on complex projects and assist with scope development and review as required;

Follow quality program requirements, including peer reviews and operational audits where applicable;

Provide technical support to Ambipar Industrial Waste Services and Corporate divisions as needed;

Perform additional duties and responsibilities assigned by Technical Leads and/or direct supervisors;

Lead and mentor a team of 2 to 4 junior drafting personnel, including providing training and development opportunities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Geospatial Science, Spatial Information Science, or an equivalent discipline;

Minimum 5 years of experience in senior geomatics roles, including process optimization, workflow improvement, and mentoring junior staff. Experience within the environmental industry is considered an asset;

Demonstrated proficiency in data acquisition, analysis, and presentation.
