Job Title: Component Engineer
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Component Engineer to support the selection, evaluation, and qualification of electrical and electro-mechanical components used in product development. This role will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure components meet performance, quality, reliability, compliance, and cost requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience analyzing component specifications, supporting supplier evaluations, and contributing to sustainable product design initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Evaluate and select electrical and electro-mechanical components and subassemblies based on product performance, reliability, and compliance requirements. Review engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and design documentation to support component selection activities. Document component selection decisions, technical evaluations, and compliance requirements. Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to define component requirements and resolve technical issues. Support the analysis of component suppliers, including quality, reliability, availability, and long-term business viability. Assist in identifying alternate components and managing component obsolescence risks. Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations regarding component performance and manufacturability. Ensure selected components comply with applicable industry and environmental standards, including RoHS and REACH requirements. Contribute to sustainable design practices by evaluating environmentally responsible component options. Maintain component databases, technical documentation, and approved supplier information. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 2–5 years of experience in component engineering, electrical engineering, product development, or a related technical field. Knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical components, including their applications and performance characteristics. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and tolerance requirements. Familiarity with supplier evaluation processes and component quality standards. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting product design and development activities. Knowledge of component lifecycle management and obsolescence planning. Familiarity with environmental compliance standards such as RoHS and REACH. Experience using PLM, ERP, or component management systems. Understanding of sustainable design and engineering best practices.
