Melt Room Operator
Position Summary:
The Melt Room Operator is responsible for maintaining safe and continuous operation of the melting furnace to produce high quality aluminum ingots in support of die cast production. This is a physically demanding position that requires the ability to drive a forklift and to work with molten metal in front of industrial furnaces.

Shift Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 10 hour weekly rotating shifts (Days 7:00am - 5:00pm; Afternoons 9:00pm - 7:00am)

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Furnace charging; working with a furnace at 1400F to properly melt aluminum to a molten state.

Ensuring the holding furnaces are operating at their best capacity by: charge well fluxing, fluxing of holding bath, routine channel cleaning (rodding), cleaning the floor of reverb from build-up of metal, and taking spectrometer samples.

Inspecting all scrap bin contents before charging to ensure they are dry and free of debris.

Using a forklift in a safe manner; ensuring valid license is maintained for forklift.

Placing ingots onto the stacker, strapping bundles with metal banding, and applying recycled aluminum control tag.

Completing all necessary paperwork/documentation and utilizing the appropriate computerized systems/ readings.

Housekeeping of work area; keeping it clean and free of debris.
Skills & Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent work experience.

Forklift license preferred.

Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication skills.

Detail oriented.

Adaptable to change.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Team player; able to work well with others.
