Business address: 2401 Bristol Circle, Suite A-103, Oakville, ON L6H 5S9 Job type: Full-time, Permanent Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (occasional site visits may require extended hours) Wage: $76,960. – $78,000. per year, based on experience and qualifications Language of work: English Number of vacancies: 1 Start date: August 10, 2025 About the role Phoventus Inc. is seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Engineering Technologist to join our team in Oakville, Ontario on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to and working under the direction of a Professional Engineer, the successful candidate provides technical support for the planning, design, and implementation of electrical power distribution systems, preparing drawings, calculations, and technical documentation and assisting with field coordination, in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements. Main duties Prepare, revise, and maintain electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, layouts, schematics, cable schedules, and equipment details Participate in and support design tasks and analysis of low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, including transformers, switchgear, panels, protection devices, grounding systems, and cabling Perform and document technical calculations such as load calculations, voltage drop, short-circuit analysis, and equipment sizing under the direction of a Professional Engineer Support the commissioning, testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and installations Review applicable codes, standards, and utility requirements, including the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), CSA standards, and applicable IEEE and local utility standards Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project documentation, and assist with material take-offs and equipment lists Coordinate with internal engineering staff, project managers, utilities, contractors, suppliers, and clients Participate in site visits, inspections, and field verification activities Maintain project records and ensure documentation complies with company and regulatory requirements Follow company safety policies and applicable occupational health and safety regulations Requirements Education College / CEGEP or equivalent experience Experience Two - three years of relevant experience in electrical power distribution, utilities, industrial electrical systems Skills and other requirements Working knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards (CEC, OESC, CSA) Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications Proficiency with electrical design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, or equivalent) Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Willingness to travel occasionally, including domestically and internationally, as required by project needs Valid driver's licence Assets (preferred but not mandatory) Experience with utility interconnections, substations, renewable energy projects, or battery energy storage systems Experience in power systems, automation, or renewable energy Familiarity with electrical analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower Experience working on projects in Ontario, Canada, and/or the United States Benefits: Extended Health Care Dental Life How to apply Phoventus Inc. is recruiting for this position in Canada, and Canadian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
