ABOUT THE ROLE As a Product Developer at Herschel Supply, you contribute directly to the development and production processes, managing assigned product lines comprehensively from initial design specification through to final production readiness. Key accountabilities include overseeing fit and construction development, material execution, day-to-day cost optimization, and sample validation while strictly meeting quality standards, cost constraints, and delivery targets. Operating as a category specialist, this position manages daily communication with external vendors and internal cross-functional teams in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. This role requires a high degree of organizational agility, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to flex fluidly alongside changing business and merchandising requirements throughout the product lifecycle. A DAY IN THE LIFE Operating within a dynamic, collaborative, and fast-paced environment, the Product Developer reports directly to the VP of Product Design, Development and Innovation and works closely with the Product Design and Sourcing teams. On a day-to-day basis, the Product Developer is responsible for the following functions: Technical Package & System Execution Owns the development execution of the assigned product category from initial specification pass to bulk production. Creates and maintains highly accurate technical specifications and structural data. Reviews digital assets and inputs technical comments on virtual CLO 3D samples within the CLO-SET platform. Create and maintain seasonal product master data to ensure smooth upload into the ERP system. Collaborates with designers and merchants to clarify each design, re-interpreting technical intent to overseas vendors to ensure production and manufacturing appropriateness. Works with Raw Material teams to develop trims, labels, fabrics, and other raw materials according to design direction, verifying that material specifications, aesthetics, and target prices are aligned. Sample Management & Fit Evaluation Tracks, manages, and reviews physical samples throughout the development process from inception to production, proactively addressing and resolving timeline conflicts or delays. Inspects and measures prototype products prior to and during fittings, recommending construction changes and alternative techniques to preserve quality, productivity, cost, and margin goals. Provides factories with detailed technical instructions accompanied by photographs for any structural changes required on physical samples. Discovers and reports any sample inconsistencies or construction deviations to cross-functional departments prior to marketing photoshoots and sales meetings. Quality, Compliance, & Operations Coordinates and manages the product wear and wash testing program to ensure strict quality performance metrics are achieved. Partners directly with the QA & Compliance Manager to execute appropriate material and product testing frameworks. Maintains vendor relationships through daily communication and structured technical alignment updates. Executes the operational development of product hangtags and packaging components. Oversees the physical organization and maintenance of the studio sample libraries. Initiates and executes continuous process improvement initiatives within daily workflows to drive structural efficiency. DELIVERABLES & KPIs 100% accurate, production-ready specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs.) On-time processing of both virtual 3D comments and physical prototype tracking to hit designated photoshoot, sales meeting, and GTM milestones. Successful execution of tactical cost negotiations during the prototyping phase to meet or exceed target seasonal margins. Zero factory or material compliance failures through rigorous management of wear testing and QA validation protocols. ABOUT YOU Experience developing bags and/or apparel within the lifestyle, retail, or consumer goods industry is essential A diploma or degree in Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or a related field is an asset. Comprehensive understanding of preparing soft goods for production readiness, backed by strong technical construction knowledge, pattern-making experience, and manufacturing processes. Exemplary computer skills in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office. Prior experience working within a PLM software environment is highly preferred. A foundational understanding of CLO 3D and CLO-Set software workflows and digital product representation. Excellent understanding of fit, product aesthetics, and the end-to-end Development Lifecycle, including cross-functional team needs. Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and manage competing priorities while adapting to an ever-evolving environment. A dedicated team player with the ability to work, collaborate, and communicate efficiently and professionally with internal teams and external offshore factories/vendors. YOUR JOURNEY WITH HERSCHEL SUPPLY The annual salary for this role falls within the range of $65,000 - $78,000 depending on experience. This is a hybrid role, based out of our Vancouver HQ 4 days per week - Monday to Thursday.
