We value collaboration, accountability, respect, and enjoyment in our work each day.Job DetailsThe City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Engineering department as an Engineering Technologist. Reporting to Engineering Development Supervisor, this position will be responsible for supporting the Development Engineering group with on-going and new development of urban infrastructure. The incumbent will be required to work with developers, contractors, builders and consultants in the areas of Development Agreements and Development Permits and ensure that the infrastructure being installed adheres to the Municipal Engineering Standards, City Bylaws, Policies, Procedures, and infrastructure growth plans.Responsibilities Review subdivision and site development plans for compliance with Municipal Engineering Standards and general good engineering practice. Perform daily inspections for the installation of standard sewer and water service connections, roads, curbs, gutter and walks. Conduct field survey and site inspections to locate structures and verify plan information. Respond to and resolve surface drainage, bylaw, and encroachment concerns by reviewing complaints, determining priorities, coordinating follow-up, and supporting compliance with City policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with homeowners, builders, consultants, and franchise companies to address easements, lot grading, and drainage issues, while promoting public understanding of bylaw and neighbourhood drainage requirements. Participates in the development, review, and revision of City regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures; acts as liaison with City Departments regarding Utility Right of Ways, and permit issuance topics. The Technologist ensures that compliance and enforcement relating to surface drainage issues are carried out within the framework of City Bylaws and policies.Qualifications Civil Engineering Diploma, or a related technology program, and certified professional technologist designation (CET) with 3 years' experience in civil design and land development project management. Strong computer skills and proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite, internet applications, Adobe Pro, ArcGIS, AutoCAD and POSSE. Excellent time management and organization skills, combined with proficient interpersonal and communications skills. Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.Hours of Work We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 5:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO). Benefit from flexible work hours by adjusting your start and end times by 30 or 60 minutes around our core hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Compensation The salary ranges from $76,780.34 - $94,499.34 per year, including a comprehensive benefits package with a flexible spending account, pension plan, and accrued paid vacation starting at 3 weeks per year.
