The Opportunity
McElhanney is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Survey Technologist to join our growing team in Lloydminster, AB. This is a great entry-level opportunity for recent technical school graduates or individuals with hands-on field experience who are ready to start or grow their career in Geomatics. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, receive hands-on training, and contribute to projects across the oil & gas, construction, and municipal sectors.
This role is designated as a safety sensitive position.

What You’ll Be Doing
Support field survey crews by assisting with the setup and operation of survey equipment. Learn to collect data for engineering, legal, construction, and oil & gas projects. Assist with preparing field notes, sketches, and data logs under guidance. Work in both urban and remote field environments; some travel and camp work may be required. Support team members in ensuring compliance with McElhanney’s safety and quality standards. Communicate effectively with teammates and supervisors to ensure project success.
What You’ll Bring
Completion of a Survey or Geomatics Technologist diploma from a recognized technical school, or practical field experience in surveying. Strong interest in a field-based, hands-on technical career. Willingness to work in various environmental and weather conditions, including remote areas. Physical ability to lift and carry survey equipment and gear. Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving record. Basic computer and math skills; GPS and Total Station knowledge is an asset. Must pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.

The salary range for this position is $24-$36 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting.
