About the role

Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Select type of insulation required. Instruct apprentices. Measure and cut insulating materials to required shape and dimensions using hand and power tools. Apply and secure insulation using spraying, blowing, pasting, strapping, taping and other application and installation methods. Fit insulation around obstructions and between joists and studs. Install vapour barriers and fire-retardant materials. Supervise other workers. Brush waterproofing cement or other material over insulating materials. Fabricate and apply removable insulation pads and covers. Estimate costs and materials. Operate CADD and other computer software systems. Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolding, rigging and hoisting equipment. Remove asbestos, ceramic fibres, lead and mould and urea-formaldehyde insulation materials from buildings. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Manual dexterity. Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years. Financial benefits: As per collective agreement. Group insurance benefits. Support for Indigenous people: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people. Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers . Develops and maintains relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses and organizations . Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers . Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers . Supports for visible minorities: Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities. Applies hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities (for example: anonymizing the hiring process, etc.). Offers mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees. Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for members of visible minorities.
