The Engineering Department, Water Resources – Survey Services Division is seeking a Survey Services Manager to lead a team of unionized surveyors and technicians delivering legal and engineering survey services in a municipal environment. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Water Resources, this role is responsible for providing technical leadership, ensuring high-quality and reliable survey deliverables, maintaining the District’s control network and Integrated Survey Areas responsibilities, and supporting corporate priorities through effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
The Survey Services Manager will lead survey operations, provide expert advice on legal surveying and geomatics matters, support subdivision and land-related processes, oversee survey instrumentation and software planning, managing operating and capital budgets, ensure compliance with professional and regulatory requirements, and supervise staff recruitment, development, and performance. The role also supports asset management planning, GIS coordination, procurement, health and safety, and consultant oversight.
The ideal candidate will be commissioned as a British Columbia Land Surveyor (BCLS) and a practicing member of the Association of British Columbia Land Surveyors, with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geomatics Engineering or a related field, plus eight years of progressive related experience in legal and engineering surveys. Strong leadership, budgeting, project management, communication, and regulatory interpretation skills are required. Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC is considered an asset. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered where applicable.
The successful applicant will work Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (35 hours per week). As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted. Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.
