Machine Operator - Golf (Full-Time)
About the role
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor Golf Services and the technical direction and guidance of the Leadhand (Greenskeeper) operates equipment required for the maintenance of the Golf Course facilities from approximately April to October, and for Parks from approximately November to March, annually. MAJOR TASKS: Operates equipment and vehicles and works with crews, as required. Performs minor servicing of equipment. Performs all functions associated with the maintenance and operation of greens, fairways, and grounds. Records data, as required. Reports equipment defects to Greenskeeper. Performs as a Machine Operator in Parks during winter months. Performs such other related duties as may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience: Previous proven golf course experience is essential, with a working knowledge of golf course equipment Skills/Abilities: Must possess and maintain a valid Class “D” Ontario Drivers Licence, or equivalent, with a “Z” endorsement Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the Corporation CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must remain a competent driver as defined by the Corporation May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified) General Information: As an equal opportunity employer, the City of Thunder Bay encourages applications from Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minority groups, women and members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
