About the role
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking Electricians to join our Lloydminster team. In this hands-on role, you will lead electrical installations, service calls, and commissioning across industrial, commercial, agricultural, and residential projects. You hold a valid Red Seal certification (or equivalent) and bring 3?5 years of field experience. You thrive in fast-paced job sites, relish troubleshooting complex systems, and take pride in mentoring apprentices.
As a Electrician at Harris Electric, you will:
- Interpret & Install: Read blueprints, single-line diagrams, and load calculations. Bend conduit, pull cable, terminate panels, and wire lighting, power, and control systems to CSA and AHJ standards.
- Lead & Mentor: Direct 1st? and 2nd-year apprentices as well as Electrical Contractor Students. Run daily toolbox talks, reinforce safety protocols, and ensure every team member meets Harris Electric?s high standards.
- Service & Troubleshoot: Respond to service calls on industrial motors, commercial lighting retrofits, agricultural equipment, and residential panels. Diagnose faults, recommend scope adjustments, and implement corrective actions.
- Quality & Safety: Enforce our ?Safety-First? culture. Conduct hazard assessments, ensure correct lock-out/tag-out procedures, and confirm PPE usage. Verify all installations are neat, organized, and code compliant.
WHAT YOU?LL DO
- Lead Installation & Commissioning
- Read and verify electrical prints, shop drawings, and specifications.
- Perform conduit bending, cable pulling, and terminations for distribution panels, motor control centers, and lighting systems.
- Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and general contractors to ensure compliance and schedule adherence.
- Commission lighting, power, and control systems; troubleshoot commissioning issues and finalize punch-lists.
- Supervise & Mentor
- Provide on-the-job training to apprentices and Electrical Contractor Students.
- Conduct toolbox talks on site safety, work techniques, and code compliance.
- Evaluate crew performance, offer constructive feedback, and document learning progress.
- Service & Preventive Maintenance
- Respond to service calls in industrial plants, commercial buildings, agricultural facilities, and homes.
- Diagnose electrical problems?motors, VFDs, panel boards, lighting control systems?and implement repairs.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to scope, estimate, and schedule service work.
- Enforce Safety & Quality
- Champion Harris Electric?s safety protocols: hazard assessments, lock-out/tag-out, fall protection, and proper PPE usage.
- Verify that all installations comply with CSA code, local regulations, and Harris Electric?s internal quality checklist.
- Maintain accurate documentation (time logs, material usage, change orders, and punch-list completion).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Any Stage of Electrician (Alberta or Saskatchewan certification, or equivalent).
- 3?5 years of progressive field experience in industrial, commercial, agricultural, and residential projects.
- Valid Class 5 driver?s license with a clean driving record.
- Proficient in reading blueprints, single-line diagrams, and load calculations.
- Skilled with trade tools: conduit benders, pull-line machines, megger, clamp-on meter, digital VOM.
- Strong leadership and communication skills?able to liaise with clients, engineers, and internal teams.
- Safety-First mindset: experience with lock-out/tag-out, WHMIS, fall protection, and confined-space protocols.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, bend conduit, and work in all weather conditions.
