We are seeking a motivated new graduate Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our fast-paced Asset Retirement team. In this role, you will join an active team responsible for the planning and execution, and optimization of asset retirement projects, inclusive of: well abandonment, pipeline abandonment, facility decommissioning, and reclamation.

  • Job Location: Based in one of CNRL’s field offices, the role includes ~2 years at active Asset Retirement wellsites. Depending on experience, up to 1 year in Calgary may be required before field rotation. After the field term, the role transitions to a permanent Calgary-based position.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Gain hands on field experience supporting well abandonment, pipeline abandonment, facility decommissioning, and site reclamation operations
  • Assist with programming, cost estimating, scheduling, and tracking of asset retirement projects
  • Conduct data analysis, well/file reviews, and contribute to liability reduction and optimization initiatives
  • Collaborate with production, operations, land, regulatory, and environmental teams to ensure compliance with provincial regulations and company standards
  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to asset retirement operations teams
  • Contribute throughout the life of asset retirement projects, from planning to completion.

What you bring to the role:

  • 2026 graduate from a Bachelor's of Engineering Program. Recent new graduates from 2025 will also be considered
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA as a Member In Training immediately upon graduation
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent with a reasonably clean driver’s abstract and high level of comfort driving in winter and remote conditions
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Prior oil & gas experience is considered an asset, previous engineering co-op or internship experience is preferred
