Are you passionate about plant operations and looking to make an impact every day? In this role, you’ll support our Millennium Primary Extraction team by ensuring safe, smooth, and reliable operations in your assigned area. Reporting to the shift team lead, you’ll help us meet our production goals while upholding Suncor’s Conduct of Safe Operations (CoSO) standards 24/7

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience in Oil Sands preferred; experience in heavy industrial or process-based operations with comparable complexity will be considered.
  • Fourth Class Power Engineering (Class 4 or higher) certification is considered an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated commitment to safe work practices
  • Mechanical aptitude, including hands-on operation of plant equipment, with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to make timely decisions during process upsets

Key Accountabilities:

  • Follow operating procedures to protect people, equipment, and the environment
  • Provide direction to maintenance and contract crews as required
  • Perform plant operating duties and communicate shift handovers clearly and effectively
  • Complete daily logs and promptly report significant changes or deviations
  • Conduct FLHAs and workplace observations to identify and mitigate safety risks
  • Isolate equipment and issue safe work permits in accordance with standards
  • Escalate issues beyond your scope to your leader in a timely manner
  • Enter notifications, perform equipment checks, and monitor equipment performance
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and support labour tasks in your area

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Baseplant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)
  • This position is safety sensitive
  • You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
  • If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory.
