About the role
Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems. Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit. Discuss work with supervisor. Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications. Perform repair work on heavy trucks. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification. Truck and Transport Mechanic Red Seal Endorsement. Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Driver's License (Class 3 or D). Driver's License (Class 1 or A). Types of systems: Air conditioning system. Diesel engine repair specialization: Major internal engine repairs or overhaul. Installation and alignment of engines and machinery. Fuel injection system. Engine control system. Lubrication system. Cooling system. Exhaust system. Mechanical maintenance and repair specialization: Power take-offs. Mechanical transmissions. Hydraulic transmissions. Highway vehicle tires and wheels. Drive trains and final drives. Differentials.
