We are seeking a detail-oriented Building Science Technologist to join our team and help solve complex challenges involving existing buildings and facility improvements. In this role, you will apply your technical knowledge to evaluate residential, multi-family, and commercial properties, including roof and MEP assessments, and support practical design solutions for rehabilitation, repair, and adaptive reuse projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys field investigation, technical problem-solving, and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do
- Perform building condition assessments for residential, multi-family, commercial, and institutional facilities.
- Support field investigations, diagnostics, and reporting related to building envelope, roof, and MEP systems.
- Assist with leak investigations involving roofs, walls, windows, foundations, and other building envelope components.
- Prepare reports, reserve fund studies, sketches, and technical documentation.
- Conduct field reviews of construction and restoration work and document contractor adherence to project requirements.
- Provide project coordination, measurement, quantity take-offs, light AutoCAD support, and specification writing assistance.
What We’re Looking For: Required
- Completion of an engineering or engineering technology program with a focus on Building Science, Civil Engineering, and/or Structural Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience of relevant project coordination or related technical experience.
- Knowledge of building science principles, construction methods, building systems, and roofing systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
This role includes both office and field work, with regular site visits, roof access, ladder use, and local travel. The Salary Range for this position is $51,000 - $77,800 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, OVERTIME, AND TRAVEL
Physical Demands – Work will be performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e., Client’s office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, climb ladders, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be attentive, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking, and interacting with clients, preparing drawings and written reports. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.
Overtime – This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with in order to meet the demands of the position.
