About the role
Role: As an integral part of the Facility Operations team, the Building Operator is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance of the building and the smooth operation of the facility.
Reports to: Director of Facility Operations & Services

What You’ll Do:
- Monitor and effectively maintain the day-to-day operations, preventative maintenance, and unscheduled repairs of the Centre’s HVAC equipment (including boilers, chillers, air handlers, pumps, motors, fans, VFD’s, compressors, etc.), life safety systems, building automation system, lighting systems, electrical, and plumbing.
- Regular water testing and treatment including the addition of chemicals based on test results.
- Timely responses and resolutions of tenant requests.
- Assist with risk management inspections, remedial actions, and reporting
- Ensure all assigned work requests are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner
- Responsible for learning pool operations and water chemistry
- Responsible for housekeeping of mechanical areas
- Be actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment following all safety requirements of the role.
- Act as safety and security personnel when required
- Engage with our guests with a friendly, welcoming, and helpful attitude
- Snow removal and de-icing of sidewalks, as required
- Troubleshoot and take corrective action to prevent equipment or system failures
- Assist in scheduling, liaison, and supervision of contractors on site to complete repairs and maintenance.
- General maintenance (e.g., painting, drywall repairs) and other duties as requested or assigned
- Assist with moving and relocating equipment, furniture, and other building assets as needed.
What You Need:

Minimum 4th Class Power Engineer and 3+ years facility maintenance experience

Knowledgeable and good understanding of building management systems (BMS)

Ability to work rotational shifts Monday – Sunday

Ability to participate in on call schedule

Swimming Pool Operator Level 1 would be an asset

Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair various facility issues

Strong ability to communicate effectively and professionally, as well as both written and oral proficiency in English

Work safely in a team, and independently

Mechanically included and possess a “handyperson” aptitude for building and system repairs.

Follow through on assigned tasks, as well as initiate tasks

Able to develop and sustain positive cooperative working relationships with tenants, internal staff, contractors, suppliers, and the public

Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job including standing for an extended period, walking, lifting, grasping, and performing repetitive motions, sometimes in confined spaces or small areas
