The Town of The Pas is seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Maintenance Labourer I for the Town. This position requires that our facilities under the scope of the Town of The Pas are well-kept and safe for employees, visitors, and the community. This will be a full-time permanent position.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Class 5 Manitoba Driver?s Licence is required.
• Completion of Grade 12 is required.
• Good recordkeeping with attention to details.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with limited supervision.
• Ability to perform minor electrical repair, plumbing, carpentry and painting to acceptable standards.
• Strong understanding or experience with heating, ventilation, circulation equipment and boilers.
• Ability to understand and perform the specific maintenance and operations of the tasks required.
• Proficient with various power tools and motorized grounds maintenance equipment.
• Capable of working towards or willing to attain refrigeration ticket and pool operator certification within a reasonable time frame.
• Satisfactory results from criminal record and vulnerable persons checks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible to work as part of a team and provide direction when required to guide employees in the safe operation of equipment to perform the operations of the section.
• Perform and carry out all phases of work pertaining to the cleanliness of Town properties, such as lanes, boulevards, cemetery, parks, Town buildings, etc.
• Maintain and/or assist with any or all minor repairs to properties, buildings and equipment used in said maintenance and upkeep of said properties.
• Responsible for the removal of snow and ice in the walking areas of the Civic Centre, Museum, Library, and other areas as designated by the Manager.
• Perform minor electrical repair, plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks.
• Maintain all heating, ventilating, and recirculation.
• Relate courteously with the public at the cemetery and portray a positive public image during the interment (burial) process.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

*HOURS OF WORK: *

Monday through Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Winter); 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Summer)

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Pay: $28.22 per hour
