About the role
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Dusty. Noisy. Odours. Tasks: Build staging or erect scaffolding for heavy metalworking jobs. Check products for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications. Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment. Cut, bend, roll, ream, punch, drill, weld or otherwise shape and form metal stock into parts or products. Document work completed. Investigate problems to fix or make minor repair. Lay out, set up and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines. Operate gas or oil fired furnace to heat metal to proper temperatures prior to forging. Operate machines or equipment which weld, solder, bolt, screw or rivet metal parts together. Operate presses or other forging machines to perform hot or cold forging to shape or form metal. Position and adjust dies on anvil of forging machinery. Position heated or cooled metal pieces on die of press or other forging machinery. Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions. Remove metal pieces from furnace when colour or metal indicates proper forging temperature. Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist. Metal forming or shaping operations experience: Bending. Cutting machine. Security and safety: Criminal record check.
