Reporting to the Director, Medical Engineering, the Clinical Engineer supports the planning, acquisition, implementation, and lifecycle management of medical equipment across the hospital.

This role works closely with clinicians, project teams, and Information Management & Technology colleagues to ensure that medical equipment and systems are safe, effective, integrated with hospital systems, and aligned with organizational priorities.

The position plays a key role in capital equipment projects, clinical technology integration, and supporting high-impact initiatives across patient care areas.

Here's What You'll Get To Do

Capital Planning & Procurement

Collaborate with clinical stakeholders to define medical equipment requirements and specifications. Lead or support RFP/RFQ processes, including vendor evaluation, demonstrations, and selection. Assist in developing capital equipment budgets, schedules, and procurement plans. Supports the multi-year capital equipment planning and projections initiative.

Project Management & Implementation

Coordinates deployment, installation, and commissioning of medical equipment. Work with multidisciplinary teams (e.g. clinical, Facilities, IMT, Finance, Procurement) to support hospital redevelopment and equipment projects. Provide status reporting and ensure project milestones and timelines are achieved.

Technology Assessment & Lifecycle Management

Conduct technology assessments and support vendor selection processes. Evaluate equipment performance, cost of ownership, and lifecycle considerations. Assist with maintaining the medical equipment database and capital planning tools.

Clinical Systems Integration

Collaborate with Information Services to ensure integration of medical equipment with hospital systems. Support cybersecurity, interoperability, and data integrity requirements for connected medical devices.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with Health Canada, CSA, and hospital standards for medical devices. Support hazard alert/recall processes and risk management activities. Participate in quality assurance and incident investigation related to medical equipment.

Stakeholder Engagement

Act as a technical advisor to clinical programs and hospital committees. Liaise with vendors, consultants, and internal teams to support implementation and operations. Support training and adoption of new technologies by clinical staff.

Here's What You'll Need

Education & Certification

Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering or related discipline (required) Master's degree in Clinical Engineering or equivalent (preferred) Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain

Experience

Experience supporting capital equipment planning, procurement, and implementation projects Experience in a hospital environment preferred

Skills & Competencies

Strong project management and analytical skills Solid understanding of medical devices, integration, and regulatory requirements Knowledge of hospital information systems and device connectivity Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment

Employment Type: 14 month CONTRACT with Benefits.
