About the role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Audio Designer (5-month contract) based in Canada. This contract role offers the opportunity to shape the audio identity of a high-intensity, third-person tactical shooter where sound plays a critical role in gameplay clarity, immersion, and player decision-making. You will be responsible for designing and implementing interactive audio that enhances combat feedback, squad coordination, and environmental realism. The role involves close collaboration with design, animation, engineering, and production teams to ensure audio supports both the creative vision and gameplay functionality. You will own audio features from concept through implementation, iteration, and final polish, contributing directly to the player experience in a fast-paced production environment. The work emphasizes both creative sound design and technical integration, requiring strong in-engine implementation skills. This is a highly collaborative role where your audio work will directly influence tactical awareness, narrative immersion, and moment-to-moment gameplay impact. It is well suited for an experienced audio professional who thrives in action-oriented game development. \n

Accountabilities: Design, create, and implement high-quality sound effects for gameplay systems, including weapons, characters, vehicles, environments, and scripted events. Develop and maintain interactive audio systems that enhance player feedback, combat readability, navigation, and squad coordination. Implement and integrate audio content directly in-engine using established tools and middleware such as Wwise and Unreal Engine. Collaborate closely with design, animation, engineering, and production teams to align audio with the overall creative and gameplay vision. Test, debug, and iterate on audio systems to resolve issues related to mix, performance, clarity, and player comprehension. Maintain production schedules by delivering audio assets in an iterative and timely manner while communicating risks and dependencies. Support the refinement of VO, cinematic, and gameplay audio to ensure consistency, quality, and immersion. Help establish and uphold audio best practices, workflows, and quality standards across the project. Requirements: 5+ years of experience in game audio design, with strong focus on implementation, interactive audio, and dynamic mixing. Proven experience shipping at least one game title, ideally within action, shooter, or military-themed projects. Strong proficiency in at least one major DAW such as Reaper or Pro Tools. Hands-on experience with audio middleware (e.g., Wwise) and Unreal Engine integration workflows. Strong understanding of interactive audio principles including spatial audio, player feedback systems, and gameplay readability. Experience recording, editing, and implementing voice-over content for narrative, cinematic, and gameplay purposes. Ability to manage tasks independently, iterate based on feedback, and solve technical audio challenges in production environments. Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-disciplinary development teams. Benefits: Competitive contract compensation aligned with industry standards ($100,000 – $120,000 annualized equivalent). Remote-first work environment within Canada with flexible arrangements. Opportunity to contribute to a high-profile tactical shooter project with strong creative and technical scope. Hands-on ownership of interactive audio systems in a AAA-quality production environment. Collaborative studio culture working alongside experienced developers across multiple disciplines. Exposure to advanced audio implementation pipelines and modern game development tools. Opportunity to shape immersive, gameplay-driven audio experiences from concept to final delivery.
