Role Description This is a full-time hybrid role for a Piping, Rotating Equipment Engineer based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada, with flexibility for some work from home. The engineer will be responsible for evaluating and optimizing piping systems and rotating equipment in refineries and process facilities, focusing on reliability, safety, and performance. Day-to-day tasks include performing condition monitoring and vibration analysis, reviewing design documentation and maintenance records, and identifying equipment failure modes and mitigation strategies. The role involves supporting reliability studies, preparing technical reports and recommendations, and collaborating with client teams to develop and implement asset management and maintenance plans. The engineer will also participate in site inspections, troubleshoot equipment issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with experience in piping systems and rotating equipment. Practical experience working in refineries or similar oil & gas / chemical process facilities. Proficiency in vibration analysis and condition monitoring techniques for rotating machinery. Knowledge of reliability engineering principles, including FMEA, root cause analysis, and asset lifecycle planning. Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., API, ASME) and regulatory inspection requirements. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical report writing skills. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; professional engineering designation (P.Eng) or eligibility is an asset. Extended experisnce in lieu of bachelor’s degree accepted. Willingness to travel to client sites within the region and occasionally outside the Greater Toronto Area.
