Job Description Overview AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada’s largest private-sector nuclear engineering organizations, with more than 60 years of experience supporting the nuclear industry in Canada and globally. Our nuclear business is experiencing strong growth, driven by a robust pipeline of refurbishment and new build projects. As part of this momentum, Candu Energy Inc., an AtkinsRéalis company, has partnered with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to deliver the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). This landmark project is leading the deployment of the GEH BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR), the first grid-scale SMR in Canada. We are currently seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our growing engineering team. Your role Prepare and update engineering deliverables such as design descriptions, functional specifications, instrument data sheets, I/O lists, and wiring diagrams. Define system functional and performance requirements, control algorithms, setpoints, and instrument ranges. Perform specification, sizing, and selection of instrumentation and control components and equipment. Perform engineering work in compliance with QA programs, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Plan and independently execute engineering assignments, including electrical design using industry software. Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, and prepare/review deliverables such as calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors, and support procurement activities (e.g., EQRs, vendor document reviews). Provide technical leadership, mentor junior staff, lead defined work scopes, and participate in design reviews, planning, and technical meetings. Support project execution through site visits, construction/commissioning assistance, issue resolution, and ensure quality, schedule, and budget targets are met. About you Engineering degree in Electrical, I&C, Automation, or related discipline from an accredited university. Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligible. Minimum 10 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering in nuclear or heavy industrial environments. Experience preparing and reviewing engineering deliverables such as specifications, drawings, and analysis documents. Experience in I&C system design including control logic, instrumentation, and system integration. Experience with SmartPlant (SPI/SP3D) or similar tools. would be an asset Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., CSA, IEEE, nuclear QA programs).
