What You Will Get To Do

Reporting to the Supervisor of Construction, Development, the Construction Inspector II Grading/Fencing is responsible for providing on-site construction inspections of Lot Grading and Fencing for new development in subdivisions and site plans as well as construction inspections of Town projects and capital projects, to ensure compliance with applicable by-laws, regulations and standards.
Inspect and approve as constructed lot grading and sodding by on-site review and in house review; Meet and direct consultants and contractors; Inspect, direct and approve fence installation and materials in new residential development sites as per the subdivision agreements; Create, follow up on inspection deficiency lists; Carry out non compliance orders when necessary; Attend pre-sod/post-sod and site meetings; Ensure proper construction techniques, quality control, adherences to Town Grading Standards/Region Standards, safety and traffic control measures; Confirm as builds are correct and undertake survey to confirm grades conform to design criteria; Ensure contractors comply with all applicable bylaws, safety regulations and carry out works; Assist in the preparation of Town project payment certificates, collect pertinent data and documentation; Provide recommendations for release of Letter of Credit reductions for grading, sodding and fencing works for residential developments; and, Provide cost estimates to complete deficiencies; Direct consultants, inspectors, contractors and dictate corrective action with respect to on-site problems; and, Assist Senior Inspectors on Capital Works Projects with quality control and quantity measurements/deficiency assessments and tender quantities.

What You Bring To Our Team
As the successful applicant, you must possess:
A Civil Engineering Technician diploma; Minimum of three (3) years of directly related civil engineering experience including both subdivisions and capital projects; A certified member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), with a minimum of C.Tech Certification; Completion of related continuing educational courses through the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Transportation, OGRA Possess a working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); a valid Class “G” Driver’s Licence maintained in good standing with access to a personal vehicle.
