Job Description NPE is seeking a Senior Environmental Biologist with an R.P.Bio. designation (or is currently eligible/in-progress for registration with BIT status.). This will be found in a skilled and experienced individual with strong, technical, leadership, project management, communication, and business development skills who is eager to assume a key role within this well established firm. The company offers a wide diversity of projects and opportunities to make a difference within the environmental sector. Project work is located primarily in the Lower Mainland, West Van to Hope BC, with occasional projects in other parts of BC. This position involves a combination of field work and office work.

The successful candidate will be expected to: Maintain a positive, professional attitude and work flexibly as part of a diverse team of biologists and environmental professionals. Manage assigned projects, including scope, schedule, budget, staffing, quality control, and client communication. Assemble, coordinate, and lead teams in multidisciplinary and multi-firm project settings. Act as project lead and/or provide project oversight and quality assurance for assigned projects. Complete occasional out-of-town field work, as required. Coordinate projects and act as a primary liaison with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders. Ensure the practical application of sound science, appropriate expertise, resources, and quality control measures to support the timely and efficient completion of projects. Mentor junior staff and support their technical and professional development. Assist with company management, operational improvement, and business development. As part of the project management team, help identify new opportunities, improve company operations, and maintain service quality and effectiveness through innovation, research, and strategy. Represent the company in a technical and business capacity in the field, at project meetings, and at conferences. Prepare and review reports, permit applications, and related technical documents, either independently or as part of a team. Conduct field work, including various environmental assessments, surveys, and monitoring programs. Prepare proposals and actively support business development. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, regulatory agencies, First Nations, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

Knowledge and Qualifications Mandatory Qualifications and Experience 5+ years of project experience in environmental consulting. Registered Professional Biologist, R.P.Bio., in good standing with the College of Applied Biologists, or a relevant similar professional designation, or eligibility for registration. Strong professional report writing experience (Environmental Impact Assessments, CEMP, (view our website for a more thorough list of reports) . Writing samples may be requested. 2+ years of client-facing project management experience. Demonstrated ability to complete independent field work. Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Desirable Knowledge and Soft Skills Strong local fisheries knowledge and experience. Experience writing and reviewing reports that meet federal, British Columbia provincial, and regional environmental regulatory requirements. Experience managing and coordinating team members. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills. Working knowledge of British Columbia and Canadian environmental regulations, guidelines, standards, and permitting processes. Broad knowledge of environmental and ecological principles relevant to British Columbia, with an emphasis on aquatic and fish habitat. Knowledge of business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources management, leadership, project management, and marketing. Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications and Certifications Electro-fishing experience and certification. Hydro-acoustic monitoring and/or side-scan sonar monitoring experience. Additional certifications such as First Aid, Environmental Monitoring, Sediment and Erosion Control, or RAPR. Experience with Phase I and Phase II contaminated sites assessments and reporting. Experience working with First Nations as clients and/or partners. Interest in taking on additional company roles, such as seasonal staff recruitment, equipment management, internal systems support, or similar operational responsibilities. Working knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, or similar mapping and design software.

Compensation $36–$44+/hr depending on experience, R.P.Bio. registration status, and project management capability Full-time position with potential for overtime. Eligible for benefits and dental plan after 6 months Annual bonus
