About the Project Pape Tunnel Underground Stations (PTUS), a vital segment of the Ontario Line, enhances connectivity, reduces congestion, and supports sustainable growth in Toronto. Webuild, in joint venture, leads this project—constructing 3.2 km of tunnel using advanced technology and two underground stations designed for future capacity, safety, accessibility, and seamless integration with Toronto’s transit network. About the Job We are hiring a Structural Engineer to join our team on the PTUS project. This position reports to the Technical Manager.
What You Will Be Doing? • Conduct technical reviews of permanent design packages (e.g., S107, S111),, facilities structures, support of excavation (SOE), ensuring compliance with structural codes and constructability • Provide design feedback to the Design Joint Venture (DJV), ensuring integration between design and construction teams. • Liaise with procurement, construction, and planning teams to ensure cohesive project execution. • Lead the design and development of temporary works from a structural engineering standpoint. • Interpret and evaluate geotechnical parameters for use in structural analyses. • Provide technical support to procurement processes, subcontractors, and other members of the technical team. • Participate or lead in design coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders. • Ensure strong interdisciplinary coordination across departments, acting as a technical point of contact. • Assist in defining and reviewing target price during project development stages. • Support construction teams on-site with engineering guidance and troubleshooting. • Apply string knowledge in structural analysis such as SAP and ETABS. • Strong understanding of applicable design codes, including AISC 360, CSA-S16, CSA A23.3-14, ACI 318, and PCA guidelines is consider an asset. • Provide leadership in collaborative roles with high-level decision-making responsibilities
What We Are Looking For?
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with specialization in Structural Engineering. • Master’s degree in Structural Engineering preferred. • 7–10 years of proven experience in structural design, construction, and geotechnical integration—preferably in underground transit or multilayer structures. • Demonstrated experience in design, target pricing, and construction execution across the three stages of the project lifecycle. • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret technical documents and translate into practical construction solutions. • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with a high level of cross-department interaction. • Proficient in structural analysis software: SAP2000, ETABS is consider an asset. • Advanced knowledge of structural design codes: AISC 360, CSA-S16, CSA A23.3-14, ACI 318, PCA is considered and asset. • Excellent report writing and technical documentation review capabilities • Experience in Design Joint Venture (DJV) environments • Background in underground structures or transit infrastructure is considered and asset. • Prior experience leading temporary works design packages • Understanding of soil-structure interaction and geotechnical principles • Strong communication and collaboration skills • High decision-making capacity with proactive problem-solving • Team-oriented, with experience in cross-functional collaboration • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced construction environment
Expected Compensation Successful candidates chosen for this position can expect to earn between $180,000 CAD - $230,000 CAD. The exact salary you will earn within this range is dependent on the specific project to which you are assigned.
