Role Description The Experienced Lead Painter role is a full-time, on-site position based in Calgary, AB. This role is responsible for leading painting crews on commercial and residential projects, organizing daily tasks, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high-quality standard. Day-to-day responsibilities include surface preparation, applying paints and finishes, overseeing spray applications, and verifying color accuracy and finish consistency. The Lead Painter coordinates materials and equipment, provides guidance and training to team members, and communicates with supervisors or clients regarding project progress and any issues. The role also includes maintaining clean and safe job sites in compliance with workplace safety standards and company policies. Qualifications Strong technical painting skills, including interior and exterior applications, fine and faux finishes, and spray techniques. Experience leading crews, delegating tasks, and coordinating project timelines and resources on commercial and residential sites. Knowledge of surface preparation, paint products, application methods, and quality control for finishes. Understanding of workplace safety practices and regulations; prior work within COR or similar safety programs is an asset. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and clients. Ability to read and interpret work orders, basic drawings, and specifications related to paint and design. Physical ability to perform sustained manual work, including lifting, standing, climbing ladders, and working at heights. Several years of professional painting experience in a lead or supervisory capacity; trade certification or apprenticeship completion is an asset. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites in and around Calgary, AB.
