We are seeking an experienced Electrical Distribution Planning & Load Studies Engineer to support utility and distribution system planning projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical capabilities and hands-on experience in load forecasting, load studies, and electrical system analysis, with advanced proficiency in CYME software.

Perform distribution system planning and engineering studies, including:
- Load forecasting and demand analysis
- Feeder load balancing and capacity assessments
- Voltage drop and voltage regulation studies
- Thermal loading and equipment capacity evaluations
- Distribution system contingency and reliability assessments
- DER impact assessments and hosting capacity studies

Develop and maintain CYME models for utility distribution systems.

Analyze historical loading data, customer growth trends, and system performance to support planning recommendations.

Prepare technical reports, study results, and engineering recommendations for system upgrades and optimization.

Support capital planning initiatives by identifying system constraints and recommending mitigation measures.

Coordinate with utility clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Review utility standards, planning criteria, and operational requirements to ensure compliance.

Support long-term and short-term system planning activities for overhead and underground distribution systems.

Participate in client meetings and provide technical presentations when required.

Summary of certifications and job requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering
-
Registered as a P.Eng. or eligible for registration in Ontario or Quebec
-
Minimum 5+ years of transmission line design experience
-
Working knowledge of CSA standards and utility design practices
-
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
-
Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and/or PLS-TOWER
-
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation
-
Experience working with LiDAR data and terrain models
-
Knowledge of foundation design or geotechnical coordination
-
Experience with transmission line uprating or rehabilitation projects

PLS-POLE / PLS-TOWER

AutoCAD / Civil 3D / MicroStation

ArcGIS or other GIS tools

Microsoft Excel (advanced)
