The Opportunity
Tidewater has an immediate opening for a Sulphur Handling Operator. This is a Temporary Contract position based out of the Rocky Mountain, Alberta – Ram River facility, this position will be expected to work 12-hour shifts 7 days on/7off. The Sulphur Handling Operator will be responsible for the safe and competent operation of the facilities. The incumbent will operate equipment and processes that function at high pressure and temperatures. The incumbent will operate equipment and processes at high pressures and temperatures. Where present, the use of poisonous and/or toxic gases will require safe handling of chemicals and solvents.
Key Responsibilities
Abide by the terms of employment in the EH&S “Policy Manuals”; to ensure safety and environmental standards are adhered to, and regulatory requirements are met
Operate and maintain sulphur slating facility
Slate train loading duties
Rail car switching and operating CN locomotives
Operating block sulphur melting equipment
Operating John Deer tractor, loader, dump truck and other equipment
Loading liquid sulphur cars
Pouring sulphur to block as required
Monitoring and treat low PH water run off ponds, sulphur pumps, sulphur tanks, steam traps and steam lines and other equipment
Repairing equipment as required and assisting maintenance to repair equipment as required
Ensuring safe work practices and procedures and proper environmental practices are followed
Other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
5+ years of oilfield experience
4th Class Power Engineering Certificate
Equipment Operator experience
Valid Class 5 Drivers License
Reliable individual with good attention to detail
Able to work long hours if required
Understand and comply to EHS policies and procedures
Identify opportunities to improve production and reliability
Highly organized with the ability to manage a demanding workload on a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required
Self starter who can work independently without supervision
Good communication and decision making along with problem solving skills that are proven
Mechanical aptitude is considered an asset
CMDS profile would also be consider an asset
Valid TDG, WHMIS, H2S Alive, First aid, Basic Firefighting, Confined Space Entry
For this role, proximity to Rocky Mountain House, AB is essential to meet operational and scheduling requirements.
