The salary range for this position is $83,000 - $1000,000 per year. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
Your Role
Coordinating and leading wildlife surveys, including knowledge and practical application of wildlife survey protocols in BC, biophysical or environmental assessments with at least 7 years of experience in wildlife biology and ecological restoration under the guidance of other intermediate and senior biologists. Provide mentoring for and conduct pre-disturbance nest sweeps and construction monitoring. Programing and deploying autonomous recording units (ARU) and/or wildlife cameras. Leading amphibian surveys (acoustic and visual searches) and performing amphibian salvages. Developing and/or conducting mammal surveys. Bat survey design and monitoring, including programming ultrasonic recording devices, deployment/retrieval, data analysis and stats. Conducting data entry, reviews and analysis to support environmental assessments and inform risk identification to develop mitigation strategies. Designing and proposing wildlife field and desktop review studies to meet regulatory requirements, including conducting consultation with regulators. Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and technical experts in biology and environmental sciences. Preparing proposals including scopes of work, budget estimates and formal RFP submissions. Maintaining existing and developing new client relationships that will include preparing significant proposals and workplans. Data analysis and technical reporting (proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook). Providing technical guidance and mentorship for junior staff. Equipment calibration and maintenance. Working outside in varied weather conditions. Excellent attention to detail, and ability to work accurately and quickly to meet deadlines. Be punctual and able to start work early in the morning. Health and Safety for work at the project site. Willingness to work independently and in a team environment.
Qualifications
Minimum of a B.Sc. in biology or ecology, or related fields. Eligibility for registration or currently registered with the College of Applied Biology. Successful applicant must have worked a minimum of 7 years in the environmental sciences in an environmental consulting capacity. Demonstrated experience working with other consultants, government agencies and non-governmental organizations. Aptitude and interest in Project Management required. Experience in Project Management and Business Development. Proven ability to establish positive relationships with staff, existing and prospective clients. Excellent verbal and technical written communication skills. A strong track record in Health and Safety management on projects. Knowledge of BC environmental regulations. Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and must provide a current drivers abstract. Must be physically capable of working with heavy equipment and sensitive instruments in variable weather conditions. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, practicing safe work methods while working independently. Strong interpersonal skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication.
