About the role
Type of position: Regular
Your future role on our team
Your role will consist of acting as a subject matter expert (SME) in high-pressure steam systems and steam turbines within complex industrial projects in the energy, cogeneration, thermal power generation, mining, and heavy industry sectors. You will be involved across the full lifecycle of facilities—design, operation, optimization, reliability, and safety—while working closely with engineering, operations, maintenance, project, and health and safety teams. You will also contribute to internal capability development and to the technical excellence of the thermal systems team
With us, you will have the opportunity to…
- Design, analyze, and optimize high-pressure steam networks, including boilers, headers, safety valves, relief systems, and condensate networks
- Specify, select, and validate steam turbines (HP / IP / LP), their auxiliaries (lubrication, control, sealing, vacuum), and associated instrumentation and control systems.
- Perform or supervise thermodynamic studies: mass and energy balances, efficiencies, performance curves, energy optimization, transient scenarios, startups and shutdowns.
- Develop, update, and validate operating procedures, including startup/shutdown, lockout/tagout, and safe operation of steam and turbine systems.
- Lead maintenance programs (preventive, condition-based, and corrective: inspections, NDT, major overhauls, planned outages).
- Contribute to capital projects (refurbishments, capacity upgrades, new steam/turbine units, cogeneration), from conceptual studies through commissioning.
- Train and support operations and maintenance teams on best operating and safety practices.
- Participate in risk analyses (HAZOP, FMEA, rupture scenarios, overpressure) and emergency planning.
Do your qualities and values align with our company culture?

-
Ability and willingness to transfer knowledge
Requirements for this position, in brief:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, energy engineering, chemical engineering, or related field
- Asset: specialization in applied thermodynamics, rotating equipment, or pressurized systems
- 15+ years of relevant experience in engineering, operation, or maintenance of high-pressure steam systems and steam turbines (blades, stages, rotors, bearings, control, protection)
- Participation in major shutdowns, refurbishments, or new installation projects
- Strong knowledge of steam thermodynamics and Rankine cycles
- Understanding of mechanical and material constraints in HP/HT conditions (creep, thermal fatigue, SCC)
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, EN, local regulations)
- Ability to review P&IDs, control diagrams, isometrics, and vendor documents
- Asset: use of calculation and simulation tools (thermal balances, pressure drops, relief valve sizing)
- Fluent English (spoken and written), with ability to produce technical documentation
